PTS Laboratories, Inc. is a core analysis service company that has a proven track record with the domestic and international energy companies since 1964. The professionals at PTS have developed many techniques over the past four decades that are the industry standard today. PTS emphasizes Basic Core Analysis, Special Core Analysis, Reservoir Characterization and custom project design using current technologies.
Historically, PTS has specialized in soft sediment core evaluation. The company has developed many documented handling techniques, laboratory protocols, and industry standards which have taken the industry beyond expectations in soft sediment core management.
PTS pioneered the use of dry ice freezing and epoxy stabilization of core in the soft sediments of Southern California and the oil and gas fields of offshore Gulf of Mexico. These innovative core handling techniques were later followed by the development of horizontal band saw slabbing by PTS.
PTS places safety first ahead of all other activities when engaging in laboratory and field services. Up to date health, safety, and environmental documentation is available to our clients.
In order to provide safety assurance to our clients, each staff member undergoes job safety analysis (JSA) prior to leaving the laboratory for all offsite job assignments.

Pete Schuyler - President
Pete Schuyler is the President and founder of PTS Laboratories, Inc. He has over 50 years of experience managing the technical and financial operations and various aspects of domestic and international core analysis companies.
Bill Westall - General Manager
Bill Westall is the General Manager for PTS Laboratories, Inc. and has a broad background in general business, financial management, operations, new product introductions/marketing and organizational design and implementation. He is responsible for general management of the company, international expansion of laboratory operations, and business development.
Michael Mark Brady, PG - District Manager
Michael Mark Brady is western District Manager for PTS Laboratories, Inc. He has over 25 years core analysis experience and oversees testing for both the environmental and petroleum exploration industries. He has an MS degree in Geological Sciences from California State University, Los Angeles and is a California Registered Professional Geologist.
Eric Withjack, PhD - VP Technology
Eric is the Vice President of Technology for PTS Laboratories, Inc., where he provides technical leadership based upon 30 years of experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. He is active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers (Technical Editor), and also serves as a California Regional Director for the Society of Core Analysts.
Christopher Prince, PhD - VP Image Technology
Christopher is Vice President of Imaging Technology for PTS Laboratories, Inc. where he provides technical leadership and is responsible for research and development of the advanced imaging techniques employed by PTS. He is active in the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Society of Economic Paleontologists and Mineralogists, Society of Petroleum Engineers, Society of Core Analysts, and Society of Professional Well-Log Analysts.
Chuck Devier - Operations Manager
Chuck Devier is Director of Operations for PTS Laboratories, Inc. He has over 30 years of experience in core analysis and is responsible for all aspects of laboratory operations. His responsibilities include working with clients to develop specific laboratory procedures and protocols, along with technical and quality control evaluation. During his work as a research geologist he developed analytical equipment and techniques at the cutting edge of core analysis technology.
